4.2 Iran and Anatolia
The northern Near East, by contrast, is the region that bears witness to the upheavals of the intercontinental collision. The result is less impressive than the Himalayas, but Iran and Anatolia (roughly modern Turkey) are generally mountainous in character. The main exceptions are the relatively flat plateaus found in the center of each area.
